Nokia Camera phone competition

Posted by @ 11:27 am. Filed under wallies

Nokia has launched a photography competition to find the best images taken with a camera phone from five geographical areas including China, India, Europe and America.. Five international photographers are hired to inspire entrants with what can be done using a camera phone.

Five of the world’s most renowned photographers will judge the best photographs taken on mobile devices and award the winners prizes that money can’t buy, like the opportunity to assist one of these award-winning photographers on a commercial shoot—plus lots more:

  1. Philip-Lorca DiCorcia is one of America’s leading photographers. His work combines documentary style informal snapshots and more cinematic staged compositions.
  2. Juergen Teller is one of the world’s most influential photographers and his work has appeared in magazines including The Face, W Magazine, and Vogue.
  3. Nick Waplington has been dubbed ‘one of the greatest photographers of his generation’, and his work captures contemporary working class life and urban youth culture.
  4. Raghu Rai is one of India’s leading documentary photographers. He specializes in extensive coverage of his native country, India, the subject of most of his magazine reportages, books and exhibitions.
  5. Jiancheng Dong is one of China’s foremost photographers and his images interpret the culture and landscape of his homeland.

The competition is open to anyone over 18 with any type of camera phone. The deadline for entries is 16 December 2005. The winners will be announced early next year.
